VfB Stuttgart are pursuing a deal for Borussia Dortmund left-back Almugera Kabar, according to a report in Sport BILD. Negotiations between the two Bundesliga clubs and the player have already begun, with Stuttgart viewing Kabar as a potential backup to current first-choice defender Maximilian Mittelstädt.
The 20-year-old has struggled for consistent playing time at Dortmund, making only six appearances for the first team. This lack of opportunity has led Kabar to seek a move elsewhere, and Dortmund are reportedly open to letting him leave two years before his contract is due to expire. The club are seemingly willing to facilitate a departure to reduce their wage bill.
Dortmund are currently demanding a transfer fee of €5million for Kabar, a figure Stuttgart consider excessive. It remains unclear whether the Swabian club will be able to negotiate a lower fee, or if an alternative solution can be found to bridge the gap between the two valuations. The financial disparity could prove to be a significant obstacle in completing the transfer.
Kabar was previously close to joining Hamburger SV during the winter transfer window, but that deal ultimately collapsed at the final stage. The German Under-20 international is continuing to push for a transfer to secure more regular first-team football. He has shown promise in limited appearances for Dortmund, demonstrating qualities that appeal to Stuttgart’s coaching staff.
Should Stuttgart manage to secure a deal for Kabar, it would provide valuable depth in the left-back position. The move would also allow the player to develop his game with increased playing opportunities, potentially fulfilling his potential as a Bundesliga defender.
