Mathys Tel could be on the move this summer, with Bournemouth emerging as a potential destination for the Tottenham Hotspur forward, according to sources at TEAMtalk. The 21-year-old, who joined Spurs permanently from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2025 for a fee of around €35million (£30.2m / $40.5m), has found his first-team opportunities limited despite a promising loan spell in the 2024/25 season where he helped the club avoid relegation.
Tel made 31 Premier League appearances this season, scoring four goals, but often found himself on the periphery of the starting eleven. With Tottenham undergoing a rebuild under new manager Roberto De Zerbi and seeking attacking reinforcements, the club are open to allowing Tel to seek regular football elsewhere. Several clubs have expressed interest, but Bournemouth currently represent the most concrete option, offering the prospect of consistent starts.
Alongside Bournemouth, Portuguese side Porto have emerged as strong contenders, potentially offering Tel the chance to compete in European football. Interest also exists from Ligue 1 club Lille and Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt, both attracted by Tel’s pace, technical skill, and versatility in attacking positions. While other English and European clubs have shown some interest, it is currently described as “light” by sources.
Tottenham would ideally prefer to retain Tel as part of their long-term plans, with his contract running until 2031. However, the club are considering a loan deal with an option to buy, or a permanent sale in the £30-40million range, acknowledging the need for Tel to play regularly to continue his development. The situation presents a dilemma for Spurs, who risk selling a promising talent for less than his potential value if they cannot guarantee him sufficient playing time. A decision will depend on whether a suitable offer is made that meets the club’s valuation and Tel’s desire for consistent first-team action.
