Inter Milan have expressed interest in signing Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah, though they are yet to submit a formal offer, according to reports in Italy. Chelsea are reportedly keen to sell players to raise funds for new signings under manager Xabi Alonso, following a pre-tax loss of €306.2million (£262.4m) for the year ending June 30 2025, the largest ever recorded by a Premier League club.
Chalobah, 27, made 47 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea in the 2025/26 season, scoring three goals. The club previously rejected a €25.6m (£22m) bid from Como for the defender in June, valuing him at €40.8m (£35m). While Chalobah is said to favour a move to Inter, the Serie A champions are currently prioritizing other targets.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter are also pursuing Roma centre-back Evan Ndicka, which has delayed any potential approach for Chalobah. Como remain interested, with sporting director Carlalberto Ludi publicly stating, “Chalobah is a very strong player,” though offering no further details. The club are continuing to pursue the Chelsea academy graduate despite the competition.
Chelsea are also exploring potential deals involving Chalobah as part of player-plus-cash offers. TalkSPORT reported earlier this week that the Blues have offered Chalobah to Crystal Palace in an attempt to sign France international Maxence Lacroix. BBC Sport also reported that Chelsea are now prioritising a centre-back signing following the acquisition of Marco Palestra from Atalanta for around €55m (£47.1m). Lacroix is valued at €55million (£47.1m) by Palace and is contracted to the club until 2029, having excelled since joining from Wolfsburg in August 2024 and helping Palace win the FA Cup, Community Shield and UEFA Conference League.
The situation highlights Chelsea’s need to balance their squad and financial obligations, while Inter and Como seek to strengthen their defensive options. A move for Chalobah could provide funds for Chelsea to pursue further targets, while offering the player a new opportunity in Serie A.
