Real Madrid have identified Bayern Munich winger Michael Olise as a key transfer target, with club president Florentino Perez reportedly “obsessed” with securing his signature, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano. This pursuit comes after a previous attempt to sign Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid proved unsuccessful, with Atleti dismissing a €150 million bid and publicly mocking the offer.
Romano reports that Perez now views Olise as the ideal “Galactico” signing to restore Real Madrid to prominence in both La Liga and the Champions League. While the club released a statement on June 20th denying any contact with the player to preserve their relationship with Bayern, sources indicate that Los Blancos are actively exploring a potential deal. Bayern Munich are currently maintaining they have no intention of selling the 24-year-old.
Olise has established himself as a dynamic and influential player for Bayern, consistently delivering strong performances in the Bundesliga. He has formed a notable attacking connection with Kylian Mbappe during international duty, which is believed to be a factor in Madrid’s interest. However, Bayern are expected to demand a fee exceeding €200 million for the France international.
Perez’s ambition extends beyond Olise, with long-term aspirations to potentially pair Mbappe with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland. Such a move would likely necessitate the sale of a current star player, with Vinicius Junior being the most probable candidate. While an attacking trio of Mbappe, Haaland, and Olise would represent a formidable force, its practical implementation remains uncertain. The situation is complicated by Bayern’s firm stance against a sale, making any potential transfer a significant challenge for Real Madrid.
